Job Lead #3 - Arkansas Tech University (NCAA Division II); Graduate Assistant
Arkansas Tech University seeks a qualified candidate for a graduate assistantship with the athletic communications office. The graduate assistant aids the overall operation of the athletic communications department, assisting the director of athletic communications in the promotion of all 10 NCAA Division II intercollegiate athletic programs at Arkansas Tech.
Arkansas Tech is an NCAA II institution in Russellville, Arkansas, that is a charter member of the Great American Conference and has an enrollment of 11,893 students. Russellville, which has a population of almost 30,000 people, is located along Interstate 40 about 70 miles west of Little Rock and 75 miles east of Fort Smith.
The successful candidate will develop and execute video content including game highlights, feature stories, season previews, and other content, while providing support to Tech athletics’ social media platforms.
The position is for 10 months, from August 1, 2017 through May 30, 2018 with possible renewal for a second year, has a competitive monthly stipend and tuition for six hours of graduate study in the fall and spring semesters. The candidate must be successfully admitted to and enrolled in a graduate program at Arkansas Tech prior to beginning employment. Graduate assistants are expected to remain in good academic standing within their program to maintain the graduate assistantship. Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism, multimedia, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired, is required. Proficiency in new media applications and Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Premiere Pro and After Effects, is strongly preferred. Experience with in-game statistical software is preferred. Candidates should possess strong written and oral communication skills; proficiency in desktop publishing, live streaming technology, and basic computer applications.
Additionally, the candidate should be able to adhere to and independently meet deadlines. The applicant must be able to adhere to the requirements of the NCAA and the Great American Conference, and the mission of Arkansas Tech.
